I can't get my 2002 3.8 to register any oil pressure when cranking. I bought the engine from a junkyard, it was in such good shape I didn't open anything, they said it had under 50k on it. I'm using a remote oil filter setup from transdapt. I unscrewed the oil filter a bit and even after cranking for 30 seconds I can't get oil to flow into the fliter. I pulled the plugs to get the engine to spin quicker. Is there an external pump priming method for the L36? I shouldn't have to get into the pump and pack it with grease as it was never opened up, or rebuilt. Any tips?

Re: Oil pump system priming
My friend told me these oil pumps are notorious for losing prime and the way to do it is add 15 qts of oil to submerge the pump, crank, then drain the excess oil. It worked fyi if it happens to anyone here.Chris<br />92 Isuzu pickup, dropping in a 3800
