  • Hesitation when accelerating!

For the past week or two I have noticed (mostly highway driving) when I accelerate that the car had felt like it was hesitating more like hitting little bumps on the road. I paid no mind, but this weekend and especially today When I would step on the gas I was really seeing the hesitation like the engine was dropping out, I noticed the rpm gauge drop too. If I accelarated really slow then I felt it less, but if I hit the pedal harder then I felt like I was going to stall. Any idea's would really help....Thanks. I have a 98' Camaro.

that and you might wanna try cleaning the injectors. if you dont pull them out to clean then buy the chevron techron brand injector cleaning solution.

I would say cleaning injectors would be included in a full tune up ;)

If you're still having the problem after you clean your injectors, it could be your fuel pump. Mine acted like that as it was on its final stretch.

Thanks for the idea's. I went Out and bought the Fuel System cleaner, Hope that's the same as the injector cleaner. Also replaced my air filter with a K&N Air Filter. Today it seemed better, less hesitation. ONly have 73k miles so would hope it doesn't need a full tuneup yet. I will buy the fuel filter next and replace it this weekend. Does anyone know where the Fuel Filter is located (never changed before) and any suggections to replace? Thanks again...

fuel filter is on the drivers side in the rear. Can't miss it once you are under there. 73k I would give it a good tune up.

Thanks. I think I will. Should I do Plugs, Wires and Dist. Cap? Should I go stock or any aftermarket recommendations?

there is no dist. cap on our cars. Do plugs, wires, pcv valve, fuel filter, oil change and filter, trans flush and fluid, injectors cleaned, rear end fluid if I want as well. good choice going with the K&N filter also.

Fuel System cleaner does nonthing. if it did they would get alot more then a few dollars a can. I have tested several brands, several times, non worked.

02 sensors are usually good up to or a bit above 100k

ok well... the autoparts stores want to make money and they recommend changing every 60k miles. Which probably WILL save you on gas mileage MPG(so it might be worth it)!

                              REASONS FOR HESITATION:
                              1) wrong ignition timing
                              2) bad ignition system
                              3) dirty or bad fuel injectors
                              4) low fuel pressure (fuel system clogged anywhere)?
