so the oil fill spout is sucking air in? I would suggest replacing the PCV valve then. its only like a $3 part and is the closest vaccume part to replace.

        Re: 3.4 help

Your high idle RPM is from a vaccum leak.

The PCV system, through the use of manifold vaccum, is supposed to draw vapors and combustion bypass gasses into the into the intake manifold to be burned off in the combusion chambers.

If you remove the vaccum line from the PCV valve and plug the line (so that you don't have a vaccum leak), and you still have vaccum drawing from the locations/components you listed, then my guess is that the intake manifold probably has a leak on the underside (in the lifter valley area) which is providing an unwanted vaccum in the interior of the engine, causing the symptoms that you describe.

Do you have any other driveability issues, like hesitations, surges, oil consumption??
