  • Replacing the transmission.

So, I got this 4L60e transmission with only 300miles and a shift kit on it. I decided to get off my *** and finally install the thing. I was hoping I can get some advice from someone who has done this before.
So, I got 2 jackstands, 1 hydraulic jack, 151 piece toolset, torque wrench, etc.
Is this all I need? Is there any special tools I'm going to need?
Also, do I need any gaskets or anything besides the tranny pan gasket(I'm replacing the fluid in it).
What would be the best way to bring the tranny down and up? I was thinking of using the hydraulic jack and balancing the thing with my hands. Its kinda heavy you know.
If you have any advice, let me know.

no you dont need any gaskets or seals. my advise would be if you have any mechanic friends, ask to use their lift and tranny jack. It would make it so easy, other wise, its going to be pretty hard.

if the fluid line on it are not screwed on, you will need a disconnect tool for it.

Ok, cool. I'm just worried about it because of how heavy it is. I've done alot of work on my car but nothing that involves something this heavy.

My friend works at the saturn dealership but he does not want to work on my car again because of how much of a PITA it was to replace the LCA bushings on this car. He also got in trouble because it took him till like 9:00pm to do it.

place a piece of wood between the jack and tranny if you're gonna lift it that way, it will help balance, and prevent damaging the tranny oil pan.

I don't know what to tell ya, I can't tell the difference from a truck and a v6 fbody trans. What are the visual differences?

Our transmissions look like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/XSTRE...spagenameZWDVW
But with only 4 bolts connecting the trans and the motor.
