ya i think it's metal. im about to go outside and try using some wd-40, a mechanic said it should be alright as long as i dont drown it with it. ill keep you guys posted here in the next 20 or 30 mins or so. thanks again
well guys i still can't ****ing get it. am i missing something here cause this really is starting to piss me off. its like there's a point where it wont come up anymore however it does rotate freely and easily, but wont go up anymore past that certain point, almost as if its bolted like it's not supposed to. gosh this is getting old
nope, unless it got bent underneath somehow, it should just pull right out, go buy a new one before you get too carried away, and that should show you how they are in there, what could be holding it back, i cant think of anything off the top of my head, mine just pulled right out
Check the spring that you pulled out, see if there's any damage to it, like maybe a piece of it broke off or something and is getting wedged in there.
Also if I'm not mistaken, there is a bolt on the pass. side of the plenum kind of on the side behind where the pcv valve is, and if you can get a tool in there and take that out, it might give you some insight as to the condition underneath the valve
I have a 97 Camaro with the 3.8 engine and about 194,000 miles on it. I replaced mine for the first time about 3 months ago and it was a major pita to get out. I had to work at it for a while. I can't remeber exactly, but I ended up getting it out with needle nose pliers. I think I destroyed the old pcv valve in the process, Good Luck...
theres an o-ring thats stuck on the bottom thats probably turned to glue or sumthing. just take a punch and a hammer and just tap down by the base on the valve to kinda break the seal. if that doesnt knock it loose then go for plan B: vice grips. get some vicegrips (you might need the needle nosed variety), lock in and pull. i got a 3.8 and i had to take mine out 2day to do some seafoam. pulled right out. theres no trick to it, just a lil muscle.
