  • Ticking Noise....

Ok I have a 95 3.4 Camaro and recently it has been making this ticking sound. It does it in park and while I'm driving also. It sounds like it might be the exhaust, but I asked the guy that flushed my tranny the other day and he said it was probaly a cracked flywheel or a missing bolt or something like that. Does anyone know whats wrong or has had a similar problem. Any help would be apprciated. Thanks.

    could be a collapsed lifter.

On my 94 3.4L the rockers got loose causing a tick, I took down the top part of the motor ot the valve covers, loosened them all then retightened them according to specs and top dead center speaks.

Tick went aways, but it could jsut be a lifter, or many other things...

also may want to try flushing the motor, next oil change sometimes dirtyy lifters will have this problem.

Some people have also experienced a ticking noise from the EGR valve.

yep, seen it on all 3,

exhaust leak(can be frome EGR) and injectors...

seafoam the car, causes the exhaust to smoke like crazy, and run under the hood and see if you see whie smoke coming out of the exhasut anywhere...

also would not hurt to run a fuel injector cleaner.

Also you can try, to get a long screw driver, put your ear to the handle and put the other end on the valve covers, and see if you can here the ticking really loud at any area of the heads.

Thats how I narrowed it down ot most likely my rockers, then tightened them.

If the ticking is pretty faint, it may also be that one or more of your spark plug wires are arcing. It's easy to check just wait til it's dark outside, turn the engine on, and look down by where the spark plug wires connect to the plugs, you'll see the little flashes of light if they are.
