        Re: leaded and unleaded gas..

yeah, never use leaded in our cars.
heres a quick explanation fer ya if your interested. Way back in the old days, they used lead in the gas as an anti-knock additive. it's cheaper than octane and works better. the old muscle cars had compression ratios of up to 12.75:1 off of pump gas. There were two problems: #1, lead is pretty poisonous and once the little particles from the gas settled, it was basically coating everything with a thin layer of lead and everyone was breathing it in. along those lines, #2, with all the need for emissions controls, they had to put in those O2 sensors and those dont work with leaded gas cuz the lead ruins them. i dont even think its still sold in the US but i'm pretty sure its sold in Europe and possibly in S. America. But yeah, nasty stuff...

leaded also ruins your cat, so there's another expensive piece that would have to be replaced.

That is the Sunoco racing gas, 110-116 octane. They have sold that there for as long as I can remember, at least 25 years. Plan to pay through the nose for it.

Ya there is a shop around my place, that I can get racing leaded fuel, and non-oxygenated fuel, which I don't know what is for... But I accidently put it in my car one morning....

And there is another station I can get 110 at in regular fuel, but thats running around $5.90 a gallon..

It would be fun to throw a few gallons in for the track and then turn the boost WAAAY up :burn:

the lead was used in gas to raise the octane level.

its impossible to have a car at 12.75:1 compression and run off of pump gas, unless the pump gas is over 100 octane. (believe me, my car has 12.5:1 compression)

it is still sold in the us.
