VATS will let the car run for a few seconds. The VATS signal is sent from the BCM(body control module) to the PCM.

You cant unless u get computer tuning. If you didnt cut any wires and just plugged all the connectors in, then vats should not be an issue. I know the older ones like a 96-97 start fine and shut off after a few seconds and then wont start again for 10 minutes. Im not sure about 98+.

Check to see if the injectors and spark plugs are firing while it is cranking.

Did you notice any preformance gains by using the paper clips as jumpers? I am considering doing this myself, I have a couple paperclips sitting here on my desk and I might try it when I get home. Let me know!

performance? Uhm.. its a starter, I don't think having a high voltage starter will make you got any faster in the 1/4th

Yes, you can bypass vats with a module, i have a painless module in my truck, cost me 50 bucks. I guess the reason i didnt mention it is because there is no reason for u to buy one, u have one built into your car! The only reason u would need to buy a module is if u took out your BCM, which i know u didnt do since it controls your door locks, starter and many other things.

Anyways, I hope u can figure out the problem and get it running.

you could have done that alot cheaper than 23 bucks. just find the Resistor Value(Ohms) on the pellet of your ignition key, and then go to a local electonics parts store (not radio shack, somthing a little more hard core). You'll end up paying less than a nickle, somtimes they will even just give it to you. the reading you will get will be one of these 15 values...

once you have the resistor just find your VATTS wires (which are 2 wires in a yellow or orange tube under the steering collum) and solder the resistor on to 1 of the wires. Hope this helps, just a cheaper alternative that takes some looking around to find the right resitor.
