A friend of mine owns a drag car and goes to several meets a year. He told me, the word in the garage is to NOT use Royal Purple in street cars because it is designed for racing. That is, you use it in the drag car for a day, and then you have to change it. He tells me that Royal Purple lacks additives that are essential for long term use. It is heresay, so take it for what it's worth.
For dino oil, every 3K is more important that anything else. For synthetic, 6K - 7K is fine. BMW says 15K between oil changes with synthetic, but I personally think that is too much.

i would imagine he is talking about the royal purple race oils, much different than their non-race oils i would imagine
i think ive said this before somewhere but im not sure but im runnin the valvoline maxlife synthetic. its around 5 something a quart and i feel like its perfect for me, i have around 130,000ish miles.
I used to use Castrol syntec in my car then at about 30k or so I switched to Royal Purple. No leaks or any other problems occured from switching as some has stated. When we did my cam install wiht my car at 61k my engine was free of sludge and build up and everything seemed to be clean and no damage inside. I say the xtra expense for the oil is well worth it.

People are taking about going from dino to synthetic causes leaks. Syntec is already synthetic.
if you keep up your engine and replace gaskets like you are supposed to then leaks shouldnt be a problem, like i said, i switched at 137k, about 2 or 3k ago and i havent lost a drop, given i was losing some before but that was just my drainplug gasket, which i switched too and that solved my only leak
I saw that test but I still use it. Before I had noisy lifters and a lot of upper-end noise. Put 4 quarts of castrol GTX in and about a quart of lucas in and quieted everything up. It also quieted a noisy rod bearing in our old F-150. I talked to my dads friend last week who drag races and he said he and his other friends use it and love it. Just my .02
i hope you are joking
if not take a look around bobistheoilguy.com
That bob test with Lucas seemed like a crock to me. There are so many variables that he didn't even account for (He has two little gears that he spinned with his hands and that's supposed to recreate engine conditions?). I run Lucas in my car and I swear by it. You might think this is B.S. but the first time I put half a quart of lucas with my oil change I got 30 miles more to the tank and now my engine runs much more quietly. To each his own though.
Hey everyone! I've been trying to remove my transmission for two days now! I need to replace the clutch. Only thing I've got left holding the transmission...
Hello, so I changed the front bearings on the bird and the ABS inoperative light came on. I made a mistake of not removing negative battery cable. Now...
I usually have to double, triple my headlight switch for them to come up on my 97 Firebird. I cleaned all connections. Could it be the headlight switch...
