i was thinking about doing a 3 in and 3" out, and a cat back. think im gong to hold off untill you figure out your problem..lol Im just GUESSING, i have no idea, but could it have taken so much back pressure off the engine, that it would be causing this probem, i high doubt it, but maybe.

            DEFINATELY not
I've run with open y-pipe before
I've seen friends with open headers

Re: power loss need help from someone!

I have seen 4 cylinder Hondas run with open headers and no power loss. I dont see how expelling exaust gas faster will make an engine weaker. Its a wives tale and most ASE tecs will agree (chime in tecs). The only exaust system required on an engine is pipes long enough to guide the hot exaust away from the head.

This is no joke I have an 86 firebird with a 350 in it. When I ran open headers it was hard for me to smoke the tires. Then when I put on 2.5" duals it moved the torque range down into the power range and I have no trouble smoking my tires now. Do I understand it? No, but with my cam I could definitely tell a difference.

So was your car quick and then u put these parts on and all of a sudden "power loss"? When u say u dont have an intake do u mean intake manifold or cold air intake? Or do u mean open throtle body? Is your computer throwing any codes?

Re: power loss need help from someone!

You will lose some low-end with less back-pressure. When my cat went out, I was runnin open y-pipe, and noticed loss of low-end, but gains in high-end. It wouldn't cause what he is describing which is the loss on the highway.

im talking about cold air intake and yes the car was quicker in accelerating but once the car gets in higher rpms u can feel more power no doubt but lately its been doing this idk wat it is ... the rpms are moving slow and the car will buck i did the spark plugs..... wires.....fuel filter is only 3 months old i doubt it can be bad already and thats also wen i did the plugs....i changed the pcv valve and daily oil changes i also used techron and had the injectors cleaned with the can stuff..... but im thinkin the problem could be the fuel pump on its way out or the coils are makin me misfire im confused
