  • Any ideas what this knocking noise could be?

When I go to take off in first gear there is a knocking noise just at the initial take off and then it goes away. Then it does the same thing when I shift into second gear but it is not as bad. Then when I shift into third gear you can barely hear it but its there.

There is no noise when I am sitting in nuetral and rev the engine.
    Any ideas?

throw out bearing could be going out. Really need more details, is it an engine knock? tranny knock?

I can't tell where the knock is coming from, I only hear it when I am driving so I can't pin point it. I have only heard one rod knock in my entire life and never have heard a tranny knock so I couldn't really tell the difference.

The clutch and throwout bearing were changed in Aril so I don't think it could be the throwout bearing.

if it sounds like its coming from the engine you might be running lean, but if its coming from the tranny then its problably a throwout bearing or worn tranny mounts

more than likely its the tranny mount if you only hear it on shifts.

best way to explain it is like a dull clunking sound.

Kinda, it is a pretty dull sound. Another thng I noticed is that it only does it in forward gears. It does make any noise going in reverse.

to check if its the tranny mount...

put it in 1st, get on the gas, let off, get on, off, onn off...

if the mount moves more then like 1/2 in, its likely you need a new mount.

I have the blantant question, right now in your sig your running a powerdine superchargger, do you still have the jet chip installed, if so remove it. It advances you timing and that is no good for your setup.

its shifting that messes with the throw out bearing
