Re: Throttle Body Bypass
it is when you connect coolant hoses in a way so coolant wont flow through the throttle body which can cause it to run cooler but not too much and it might give you 1-2 actually horsepower to the wheels. since its a super cheap mod give it a try if you want to. if you live in a cold climate like up north somewhere i wouldn't recommend it

Re: Throttle Body Bypass
1 take off tb
2 put epoxy/jb weld/glue/rtv in lower coolant passage on the backside of the tb (side that connects with the intake manifold)
3 reinstall tb, let it dry2k2 camaro, K&N, SLP whisper lid, Konis, AEM, HP Tuners, Angel eyes/Halos, CF SS ram air hood, 4.10s, Zexel Torsen, UMI SFCs, CrossFire, BFGs, Gatorback, Catco, Flows, and TLC! DONT feed the Trolls!

Re: Throttle Body Bypass
for the 3.8l engine we have a passage in the tb that people epoxy/jb weld/ glue/ rtv that keeps the coolant from entering the throttle body.
for the 3.4l engine you go with the coolant bypass line setup.
As for gains, that is debatable, you might see 1-2 hp from it, it is more of a thing of knowing that your tb is staying cooler so the incoming air is staying cooler longer. If you are located in a place that gets cold and snowy in the winter and you drive your car in the winter (shame on you) then I wouldn't do this.

Re: Throttle Body Bypass
don't spend $20 for a plug, just seal it yourself, totally safe and only a couple cents.
email sent on thermostat

Re: Throttle Body Bypass
ya, dont buy the part, just buy jb weld/rtv/silicone/epoxy/whatever
intense is giving out free 160s with a purchase. The thermo probably isnt worth the price of shipping but its a deal.
wish i could tune my egr down a little, or run the hot air through some kind of radiator to cool it off before it enters the engine2k2 camaro, K&N, SLP whisper lid, Konis, AEM, HP Tuners, Angel eyes/Halos, CF SS ram air hood, 4.10s, Zexel Torsen, UMI SFCs, CrossFire, BFGs, Gatorback, Catco, Flows, and TLC! Re: Throttle Body Bypass
just pull the egr tube off the manifold/headers, and put a valve cover breather filter on it, and seal up the manifold/gasket.
or remove it altogether;)Rebuilding the engine... Building a custom front end... T-top conversion... Custom rear hatch..
Custom interior...

I'm not removing it until it dies (for gas mileage and EPA reasons)
just wish I could turn the hot EGR gas to cold air. (even though its waaay cooler than the exhaust gas. I also wish I could filter the carbon2k2 camaro, K&N, SLP whisper lid, Konis, AEM, HP Tuners, Angel eyes/Halos, CF SS ram air hood, 4.10s, Zexel Torsen, UMI SFCs, CrossFire, BFGs, Gatorback, Catco, Flows, and TLC!
