  • next mod??

So i am looking for my next mod and would like suggestions on what you all think it should be. car is a 97 A4 camaro w/ cold air intake, pacesetters, 3" exhaust, high flow cat, LS1 front and rear brakes, zex-torsen limited slip, 3.42 gears, aluminum driveshaft. shoot me some ideas if you know of a good one i should do. i was thinking about a 160* thermostat. not sure if i want to go with 1.9 rockers yet because i dunno what route i want to take with the motor. thanks for all the great information on the site.

      Re: next mod??

right now my goal for the car is a 14.9, i just want to break into the 14s currently. and from there i will maybe set a little bit lower time. i am going to the track this friday to get some runs in, and it will be the first time i have run the car since i did any mods to it.

if 14.9 is all you want then you might already be there or close. get some runs and then we can go from there.

yeah, get a good launch and you should have 14's.
a new thermostat costs like $20.... its worth it!
stick a bottle in there, and you will have low 14's!
otherwise, 3.73's, some suspension (sway bar, STB, LCA's), some drag radials for the track, WHISPER LID IF YOU DONT ALREADY HAVE IT!!!

being first time at the track, the big thing you need is practice. Practice launching the car to get those 60fts down. Also what tire psi were you running and such. Stereo with subs in the car? Wheels bigger and chrome or are they stock?

Another thing is how was the weather. Weather can kill your times as well as elevation

factory wheels 16x8 five spoke aluminum wheels. 245/50/16 tires. temp was around 80 degrees, fairly humid. dont know the exact numbers. i made four runs and all four were 15.5 or 15.6. with all nearly the same 60 ft times. i stalled the car to different levels at a max of about 2000. never had any wheelspin at launch. as far as practice goes, when i ran my bike over the course of 4 runs i improved four times. with the car i ran consistently 15.5.

air pressure in tires? was it bogging on the launches?

tire psi was around 32 i think, normal street pressure thats given on inside of door. and it would dog a little from launch, then around 3500 it would really start to pull, and after that the RPMs didnt get that low. i was running nearly the same trap speed as my friends 97 mustang GT but he pulled off a 14.9 b/c of his 60 ft times.
