Don't do anything else unless you've done an exhaust and intake (not just a K&N drop in, get an SLP Cold Air Intake or K&N FIPK). These really wake up the 3.4 when done together. Also, just welding on a muffler won't do much. You really need to upgrade everything from the catalytic converter all the way to the back.

After that, I'd work on the transmission. Try a B&M Shift+ or go for the real thing and get a shift kit installed.

Scan the for sale section on this board, ebay, and other F-body sites and you can find some deals.

PS-searches will turn up all sorts of stuff!! Good luck!!!

Hey all, I'm new as well. I was going to make a post like this as well, but another person took the libery of making it for me ;) I was just wondering what a K&N FIPK and SLP CAI would run from the cheapest place online. I also want to mod my 3.8 V6. This is as good a place as any to ask.

Thanks in advance!

For a '98 your looking at a different package as far as intake goes. Look at getting a whisper lid and a cold/ram air scoop.

The lid will run about $130, and the induction kit will run $130 - $175 depending on your preferences.

Your best bet for getting a good deal is to check our sponsers forum for sales, or check the for-sale forum.

I have a '95 3.4 v6 Firebird. What would be the best intake, air filter, and catback/exhaust to buy? And if you know a webpage with them can you tell me what it is. Also, should i just stay with the factory rims or should i get new ones now? Thanks in advance

Welcome to the Board

Personally I like Thunderracing.com, they've got the best service

Here's what they have for us V6'rs:
http://www.thunderracing.com/index.c...ategoryid=1009

As for the best intake and exhaust, you'll hear various opinions everyone, your best bet is to read alot of old posts, ask questions, and weigh all the factors (ie. cost, performance, sound).

Get some pictures up so we can take a look those rims...

Welcome to the board.

I have to disagree on the intake, unless you want to do a free ram air mod, and exhaust, unless you want a different sound but don't expect it to sound like a V8. Personally I can't hook up the 200hp I have.

So what kind of a budget are you on?

I would say get a good set of Lower control arms (LCA) or at least have your stock LCA's boxed,

Find a good torque arm, I am saving my pennies for a Jegster.

A lot of guys claim great results going to a one piece drive shaft and that's on my "when the tax money comes in" list as well.

What are you into? Is out right speed what you are looking for? Do you like to corner? Are you into the 1/4? Do you want a car that looks good and stands out?

There are many mods out there for both show and go. You need to make sure of what you want before you start buying stuff. A 1/4 mile car won't handle as well as a car set up for road racing and visa-versa.
I have made a lot of money in my life, most of which I spent on cars and women.<p>The rest I have blown.

Thanx for everyones help. I recently purchased a flowmaster cat-back system, which I will put on in the next month. I have some other minor things such as K&N air filter, some really nice Dunlop 9000's and I was thinking about the K&N FIPK, any thoughts on that?

Well, if I could make my car customized for anything it would have to be for handling/autocross. I'd like a little bit more power also (not to mention the fuel efficiency that comes from the engine being more efficient). Don't think I'd really run the 1/4 mile a lot, so smooth handling is more important for me.

Not quite sure of my budget as of yet. If I can get a 2nd job at Circuit City then I'd have the cash to play around with some cool mods. Right now I'd have to say in the $400-$500 range.

Gears help alot.

But before I would mod anything, I woudl consider going thorugh everything and make sure everything is workign right. A catback may give you a5-10 extra hp, but bad ignitno wires may make you lose 20 hp.
