While I love my 3800 I feel it is a bit of a lost cause in the pursuit of a relatively inexpensive 12 second car. To get to 12 seconds on a 3800 some serious time and money is needed. And while I would like nothing better than to have all kinds of time to screw around with my engine I have come to the conclusing building up an LS1 would be in the long run easier due to availability of aftermarket parts as well as general information and support.
Basically I'm looking at around $600 for an LS1 short block to build up over the course of a year and I was wondering if that was a fair price for a brand new short block.
