• Screechy squeeking noise driving me insane

This has been driving me insane to the point of making this topic

Basically, I hear this horrible screeching noise coming from the back of my car under acceleration/deceleration/bumps. It is quite loud and I only cant hear it under full acceleration. I can try to make a recording too if needed. At first I thought it was the antenna so I took that off but the sound was still there. Then I thought it was the clamps coming loose on the exhaust I put on recently (Edelbrock if it makes a difference) so I put it up on ramps and tightened everything down but the sound was still there. I've removed every removable piece I can find in my trunk area but the sound is still there.

My dad seems to think it might be the muffler itself causing the noise (maybe the packing?) since the sound only comes when the car is warm. Another thing: I first noticed the sound after driving home from getting my tips welded on. Dont remember if it was there before or not.

may not be this, but try to tighten down the spare tire or put a blanket behind it. usually when there's a squeaking sound coming from the back that's what it is, the tire rubbing against the inside of the fender cuz it's a bit loose.

Also, check the top of your shocks. Sometimes the nut on the top of the shock will wiggle loose due to vibration, causing the annoying squeaking you're talking about.

Hahaha....when I saw screeching noise from the back, and your dad thought it was the exhaust. I thought, "Oh no, he got the whistle tips, woooo WOOOOO". Sorry, http://www.camarov6.com/cgi-bin/ulti...c&f=6&t=010858 if you don't know what I'm talking about.

              The whistles go woooo.... hehe.

Getting off topic now though. Thanks for the suggestion but I don't think it is possible for it to be the shocks since the problem only happens when the car is warm. I will tighten it down tomorrow just in case.

It is something with the exhaust heat shields around the gas tank. I've noticed it on mine, but I don't care too much about it. Try taking the heat shielding off and put a heat barrier blanket in place.
