Last week, my car started running crappy and so i went on a journey to figure out what was wrong. It turned out that the cat was clogged and causing major backpressure in the pipes. it was os bad that the gas was leaking out between the manifolds and y-pipe. i ended up gutting my cat this weekend and it ran good again. I noticed that there was a lot of missing low end torque, but when it went into the high rpms, my car just flew!! :)
but now, i have a problem...two actually...first off it's way too freaking loud (but that's an easy fix, i just ordered another cat and it should be here tomorrow...i actually drove my brother's car for the past two days because it was so damn loud. hahaha.)
the second is i got an SES light. I check with the code reader and it turns out that i have a P0403 code, which is EGR solenoid curcuit control. Is this because i had gutted the cat and there is not enough backpressure for the EGR solenoid curcuit to work or is it something else? If so, would putting a cat on solve the problem?
I love the ttop end power and speed my car puts w/o the cut and now i'm thinking about getting a cut out for when i go to the track. just amazing w/o the cat. :)
one more unrelated question...
i also got three other codes: P0131, P0137, and P0151. these three are all oxygen sensor circuit low voltage (two manifolds and one after the cat). i changed all three sensors and i'm still getting this code. I checked the wiring and it doesn't look corroded or anything. do you guys think it could be the alternator? My battery or voltmeter has also been jumping around erratically. or could it be the battery?
any input would be great. thanks guys...and gals. ^_^
