Could be old plugs too. Sounds like an ignition miss which could also end up to be your one or more of your coil packs.

Off hand, it sounds to me like a MAF on the fritz, but I couldn't say for sure. I've had those same symptoms on several vehicles, and its very often the MAF. Run a computer diagnostic.

Possibly fuel pump as well. Sounds more ignition related though. I'd start with the coils first.

Had the same problem on my old car, turned out to be the MAF- try resetting your computer and see if it throws any codes at you afterwards.

I too have a 96 camaro and it sounds like you are having the same problems that I had. Does the SES light come on then go away when the car starts again, does the check gage light come on, are you in a cold climate or just went to a cold climate. when you connect it to a code reader does it not show anything wrong. There is a sensor under the flywheel that answers to the ignition module only, ie does not show up on the obdII codes. it is a 50 dollar part and is probably your problem, I have spent 800.00 coming to this solution and could only do it with the help of a good electronics repair shop. The dealership hosed me but good.
