does a 96 firebird have a top speed governor on it?

if so ,how do i bypass it?

umm i think its like 118.... you have to get it tuned or get a programmer to get it out

With a 5spd the limiter is at 114 in 4th gear and 118 in 5th gear.

yup, 118 is the limiter, a custom pcm tune can get rid of it

cant autozone or oreilly or someone tune it for you? how much does it cost to tune it, i thought about getting it done since i get paid almost 550 bucks tomorrow but dont want to pay 300 bucks for a programmer, what ways can i do it???

no autozone or oreilly cannot do a tune. You can send your PCM out for a mail order tune to pcm4less. Do a search in the tuning forum, tons of info there on this

correct but they are the ones with the dirt cheap group purchase going on. ;) Also they send you the tuned pcm and you just send your stock one back. He also has a 96 so they would be the ones to go to so he can get a 97 pcm from them. Of course there is also texas-speed.com as well.

They both will do pretty much the same things with your tune. If you don't want any downtime you will want to go with PCM4less cuz they send you the tuned pcm and you send back your stock one. Texas-speed you have to send your pcm in and they tune it. However you have a 96 so if you were to go with texas-speed you would need to find a 97 pcm to tune.

Do some searches in the tuning forum for 96 pcm and such and you will find all kinds of stuff

Its a 97, pcm4less is cheaper thats why I was wondering if there is a difference.
