  • Old 3.8 ---> newer 3.8 swap

    My car (96') is creeping up on 100K. Since I love my car I'd rather run my current engine till it dies and then swap in a newer lower mileage 3.8 v6.

    From the searching I did on here, a newer/lower mileage 3.8 could posiibly be had for $500 at a salvage yard. How much do you think I would need to spend total including labor to complete the swap? Is it relatively easy to find low mileage 3800's at a yard? I've heard a v8 swap can run around $6000+ so I figure a v6 would be my best option.

    na to swap in a LS1 in your car would be around $6000. But swapping a LT1 would be about the same price as swapping a new 3.8 in. Just have to buy some suspension mods to handle the extra weight.
