MSD Plug Wire Problems

i have a problem with my MSD spark plug wires. They do not stay connected to the plugs at all.

They will stay connected to the plugs for a while, but it seems like everytime i give the car any gas, they seem to disconnect about 5 mins afterwards. It is really starting to piss me off because i upgraded the wires for better ignition, but now i cannot give my car any throttle in fear they are gonna fall off the plug causing my car to run like complete ****. I have to pull over and wait for it too cool down a little before i can reinstall them, due to the manifolds being so close and i usually cant avoid them.

Now the question i have is there anyway these can be fitted better? They are made for a 99 and i have an 01. Would that create a problem?? Do i need new plugs???

It sounds like you are not pressing them on far enough until they "click" onto the plug. You should hear an audible snap when they are on the plug all the way. Push harder. Also, are you using dielectric grease inside the boots?

not that i am aware of on the dielectric grease. Can i pick that up at an auto parts store i assume?


If so do i just put some in each boot and reinstall?

Yeah, it's usually sold in a packet like a ketchup pack. Squirt a little in the end of each boot. It should help them go on, and it definitely helps when it comes time to take them off again.

is the boot of the wires at a 90 degree angle or straight, cuz i kinda had a similar problem with the 90 degree, its a pain in the @ss. The thing that i did was just push as hard as i could into the plugs. I got them to snap even tho i didnt really hear it, i gave it a small tug to see if it stayed. You can feel the click more the hear it.

Ok so get some dielectric grease
and push like hell.

yea get thge di-elcetric grease from the deler comes in a tube with enough to do 100 cars saies the warranty company
