my A/C is blowing out the bottom, the defrost vent and the lil side window defrost vents. any idea's?
This is exactly what happened to me at 132,000 miles. All you need to do is replace the little plastic valve. It is extremely easy - no dismantling the dash or any interior work is required.
Look under the hood on the pasenger side where the AC lines enter the firewall. In adition to the two big AC lines, you will see three tiny plastic lines that all come together at this little valve. The top section of my old valve had broken had broken completely off, so one of the three plastic lines was hanging down a little (not connected).
Carefully pry off the old valve from the rubber connector boots. My old valve fell apart as I took it out. There are two little L-shaped connector boots and one little straight connector boot.
You may need to carefully pry the boots off the little plastic lines in order to clean out any broken remains of the old valve. Just be careful not to kink the plastic lines as you take off the boots.
I used a needle nose pliers to pull out the remains of the old plastic valve from the little connector boots.
Lou Bachrodt (local GM dealer) wanted $10 for AC Delco part 14056648. Bennett Auto Supply charged me $5. Advance Auto Parts told me they did not carry that part.
I hope this helps anyone who has this problem - it is VERY EASY to fix! :)
Welp, I have the same problem with my vents not blowing AC....
Came here to read before I dove in.... looks like you fella may have saved me a lot of time... will post back after I install the check valve....
and if anyone else needs on I had to buy a pack of five from my dealer. I'll keep a spare so I have three left. Just email your address to me and I'll send one to you.
