i believe i have traced my AC leak to this part, it looks like it has corroded through a little part of it, and thats where my dye resides, what is this part? is it just that whole compressor hose assembly?

I don't know what the name of the part is, but if it's crimped or welded on the hose, you'll probably have to replace the whole hose assembly. If you can unbolt it, then replace it once you get the name of it.sigpic -

I am not an HVAC expert but, that looks like a suctions accumlator. Its purpose is to stop any liquid from going to the compressor. Liquid in a gas compressor = VERY short life span.
It could also be a Filter/Drier. could you tell me if it is on the High side or low side of the compressor. As that will tell me what it is.Comment

doesnt really matter, you have to replace that whole hose assy because thats welded in, but whatever, i hope thats all thats leaking...Comment
