my 3.8L camaro has horrible mileage: 150 miles full tank

Let's clear this up. I've done all the things I mentioned before plus the following:

1. Filter is Moroso CAI-mileage still bad before
it was on.
2. I also cleaned the intake when I did all the
other fluids. Sprayed it with carb cleaner.
I am going to buy a new fuel filter tomorrow and see if that helps. If the coils are bad, then I might as well get the Accel #140017 packs ;) .
Can I test the coils with a voltameter? My friend has one. I don't have any idea how. I know for most of you my mileage is good, but I used to get a lot more, even with a heavy foot. This whole thing just baffles me?

I was only getting about 200 miles per tank until I changed my fuel filter, spark plugs, and wires. I also inflated my tires to 37psi. I will get about 300-350 per tank

I just bought a new fuel filter and am going to install it tonight and see if it helps. I just filled up the tank last night so I'll see if the mileage improves. The only other thing I can think of is the coil packs.

Just changed the filter. I cut the old one open with a hacksaw and it was filthy. Black sludge came out. I'll see if it helps.

Geez, I get anywhere between 380-410 a tank and I have a moderatly heavy foot. Is my car special or something??? The only things I've done to it are put 16 inch chrome Z28 wheels with 255 tires, ghetto CAI and that's about it...

My car is only getting about 14mpg (about 160 miles per tank) and Ive done all the things afformentioned: Brakes and rotors, tire pressure check, fuel filter, kn air filter, fuel pump, tranny rebuild, new tires, oil change, plugs changed (AC platinum), wires (MSD superconductors), one MSD coil pack, throttle valve, Ive even tried Zmax. any suggestions (98 3.8). :mad:

How can you check your cat with out taking it apart?

are you having any problems starting your car? getting a fuel-like smell? try changing your fuel filter...I just changed mine last week and I went from getting 180miles/tank to getting 270!!!

You can use an inferred gun to see if the cat is clogged by checking if it's heating up more than the pipe around it.
Most muffler shops can check this for you.
Or you could buy one,you can never have to many tools.

Take the car to a dealership and have the injectors cleaned. The dealership has equipment to force a mixture of GM Top Engine Cleaner and gasoline through the injectors at a higher pressure than your fuel system can generate. Don't take your car to "budget-lube" for injector cleaning.

If you use fuel system cleaners often ... cut back. Curtail any use of fuel cleaning additives to a bottle in the tank every 10-15K miles. Funny thing about fuel system cleaners: if you use too little, they don't do a damn thing for you, and if you use too much, they will corrode your injectors.

As part of your normal preventive maintenance process, clean the throttle plate, the MAF screen, the MAP sensor port, the PCV chamber, and the IAC port and IAC pintle. Decarb the combustion chamber by introducing an ionized combustion chamber cleaner or small amounts of ionized tap water into the intake plenum while the engine is running. Also, decarb your combustion chambers before you change the spark plugs ... not after. This could save you a couple of replacement plugs. Every few years, you should pull the fuel rack and replace the injector o-rings and clean the injector ports.

It sounds like you have already done quite a bit to keep your car in tip top shape. Good luck!
