great, its back to the message boards yet again... ok, back in summer, i had a blown cat. it was still under warrenty (barely)so i got that fixed. well, if i accelerate more than like 1/2 throttle, i hear a hissing noise. i have the SLP ram air thing so i always chalked it up to the intake bein noisy. i was on here a few days ago asking about a whining from cold start and people are sayin water pump. NOW its starting to run rough at highway speeds and cant stay over 70 without down shifting to third. BIG power loss. i'm still hearing that hissing at over 1/2, i'm right at 15000 miles for the fuel filter, i'm buying the w/p this week, i'm also getting plugs and wires and an oil change as well as cleaning off the air filter... am i missing anything??? is that effin' cat bad again? (gotta love how this crap happens when i gotta head back for finals week...GRRRRR) advice would be nice. thanks guys!

Im really thinking it might be a cat again. The hissing could be the extra back pressure pushing the air out hole of the exhaust. After you drive see if she is nice and glowing red.
If your doing all that tune up, should replace the PCV also.
DEFFENTIALLY would check into the cat.1999 Pontiac Trans Am M6 Far from stock.....

A vaccum leak will not make him run like hes running. His idle would be different and he should run lean due to the extra air comiing in.1999 Pontiac Trans Am M6 Far from stock.....

The more the cat is plugged the hotter it will get. Well if you don't have emissions then you really don't have to worry about it. I mean sure there is a huge fine for it, but I don't have one on my formula or even my beater(cheaper to just through a pipe in when the flange cracked).
Since you have 00 you will have to buy a casper o2 sim if you go high flow or straight pipe.
My cars are OBD1 I don't have to worry.
Alot of guys will tell you just to get a high flow but its really up to you.
Just make sure its your cat first before you replace anything.1999 Pontiac Trans Am M6 Far from stock.....

i think i'm just gonna cut that thing off... one less thing to break on me and i usually drive out in the country anyways, and the thing's so low, i doubt a cop would even bother to check. where can i get can O2 sim at and should i put a magnaflow muffler on it? i dont want it to sound too high at high rpm's... i want it to sound as close to an 8 as possible.
besides, how would i know its the cat short of takin it off (and if it ISNT glowin red hot). prob is that the powerloss it intermittant. like i drive it some days and its fine but others i get that nasty loss...2000 3.8L Camaro A4 Pewter Y87<br />K&N Filter, SLP Ram Air kit, Eibach Pro Kit, Flowmaster 80 series, Silverstars, NGK plugs and MSD Super Conductor Wires, Electric Water Pump
