  • security key problem?

So my mom's 1996 buick lesabre won't start at all. The battery has a lot of life, the fuel pump is on, the key is clean, and I don't know why it won't start. The security light keeps on flashing while the car has the ignition switch turned to on. Both keys that came with the car aren't working. Have any of you had any problems like this with your f-bodies or know what is wrong with the car? Thanks.

Could be the wires going to the key cylinder. Is that PASS-Key II? F-Bodies have a common problem where the wires that read the chip in the key get torn loose and you'll have problems like that.

Be aware that after a certain number of tries, you'll have to wait like 5 minutes to try again.

The Security light tells you it's something involving the key or the chip.

I've heard sometimes dust gets in the ignition, try blowing compressed air into the ignition
