Hey guys, Ive got like $18 and I need to change my oil. Last time I changed it was a while ago, Ive got a low oil light. I used Quaker Q High RPM Synthetic. Is it AT ALL safe to put in regular oil? Im too broke to grab 5 qts of syn but its whats in there now. What should I do and like I asked b4, Im getting bad gas mileage lately, like 21mpg and its a V6! WTF?! Is this a reason why?

Can needing new oil affect gas mileage?

Its fine, really the 3.8 is made for dyno not synth. The seals are techncially not made for synth but it works for the most part.

It depends on what oil weight you run, the thinner the easier it flows so les friction in the engine so more power is produced.1999 Pontiac Trans Am M6 Far from stock.....

Sometimes when oil gets old, the viscosity can thicken, which would penalize your gas mileage somewhat. Sometimes, the opposite happens [it thins out]. This shouldn't be happening too much with those oil change intervals, though.
Don't worry about mixing the oil types.\'00 f-bird 3.8 M5 coupe, pewter metallic
Torsen LSD, Pro 5.0 shifter, Spec stage 1 clutch, Y87 muffler, aftermarket stereo
-more fun than the Oldsmobile it replaced...
