2nd?

There is a button on my g/f's 97 firebird v6 convertible and its right by the button that lets the top down and it says 2nd with a light that comes on when you push it but we cant figure out what its for. Anyone know?

It's says something like 2nd GS. It means you start out in 2nd gear.

didnt think a V6 would be good starting out in second, like wouldnt u still hear the low rumble like the car wanting to die? or is that a good racing technique? starting in 2nd gear that is...

cool thanks but this one just says 2nd not sgs or anything like that. I guess its the same thing. Wierd option....

its the same thing. IMO when i had it in my old bird it was pretty useless in bad weather. but thats my opinon of it.

now on the other hand the v8s got the tramsmisson perform button(lt1 only) its more or less a shift improver on demand which is pretty neat.

Just wondering here, but with the shifter in the drive positon and starting from a stop, could you accellerate, then reach over and hit the SGS button and force a shift to 2nd gear before the PCM normally does the 2nd gear shift?
