Still on the original in my 2000 V6 with 114k on it. No signs of impending doom. I've only had to change the battery out on it once. Everything else (except plugs) are original and in working order.
2000 Camaro V6<br />I\'ve done nothing to my car worth note. :)
Should last atleast 100k, i recommend replacing at 100k. Better to replace it before it goes out then to have it go out when your on a trip.

If it's working fine then I'd just leave it until it dies. It's easy to drop in a new one. Why spend the money if you don't have to? I know I've got better things to spend money on than replacing a perfectly good alternator.

I was planning on that.... I was just curious, I feel a littel bit better off, I probably won't think about it again until like 90-100k.
its not the heat its the salt air...i live just out side atlanic city and my 94 has the oringinal alt and its just about to go after 12years 176k miles
Ours died after first 2000 miles under warranty about 10 years ago. Been working fine ever since. The battery is the only thing I would replace regularly in the electrical system (if battery makes it to 5 or 6-years, I'd replace it).
1999 with 80K...original alternator. Voltage has started dropping lately with lights on and hitting the brakes. Otherwise delivers 14 volts most of the time.

Luckily since we have a voltage gauge and not an idiot light, we can monitor voltage before something gets bad enough that we end up on the side of the road. If you start noticing abnormal readings, then it's time to check the battery and the alternator. But until then........ :burn:
Not much going on, replaced my Kenwood double din stereo with a Pioneer double din, the Kenwood had problems. Then replaced my power inverter for my reverse...
