• WHAT PERFORMANCE MODS DO YOU RECOMMEND?

I recently purchased a 99 Camaro A4 V6 (A4 being the bad part of the deal.) I'm interested in some performance mods without hampering the daily drivability of the car, and yet step on the gas every so often and make the ground shake!! What would you guys recommend if $$ wasn't too much of an issue.

Don't mean to sound like an a55hole about the money, I just don't want that to be an obstacle. ;)

i would do the free ram air mod by costomizing your air intake and it dont cost very much at all
and it gives you about 20 horse power.
i can really feel the difference when i step on the gas http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...am_air_mod.htm

Sounds pretty interesting, although I kinda agree with Nikon; 20HP sounds kinda high. Does anyone else have other suggestions or a combination of mods working together to make the car more powerful?

you can do what I did. Intake/Exhaust and that's it. Don't spend much yet you get a little more "pep"

Fast Toys Ram Air $100 (used)
K/N Filter $50
Whisper Lid $130 (do it yourself for like $15)
Flowmaster 80 Series with 2.75" custom catback setup +tips $400
PowerSlott Rotors $120
Strut Tower Brace BMR Black $160
Grand Total = $960

You really don't the optional rotors and you can just grab a muffler for $80 and just use that. Hope this helps.

edit: also the free ram air thing does help a little, but don't expect much unless you're on the highway. Also if you want even more performance, install a real ram air kit like the fast toys and it'll help you even more. Retail new is $179 I think

Do a Jet Performance Chip. Then Intake and Exhaust.

First off being that it is a A4 is a good thing all the top times are from a A4 u should start out with good intake and exshuast then depending on what gear u have if it is 3.42 i would look into upgradeing them and then look at a 3000 or so stall converter and u should be 14's in the 1/4

You can look at my mods in my sig and i run a 14.345@92.5 with a 1.866 60 foot

We have a modifications database that is helpful on this site, look at that.

For more information checkout the mods I've done - most are basic and inexpensive and help in someway or another. Most people with 99s start with a nice lid and filter, add a good exhaust system when they get a chance, and run at least P245/50R16 Hrated or better tires (Kumho 712s are popular, 711s are cheaper). Decide what you want to improve, find something cost effective, and go for it

Have fun and welcome to the board.

Intake & exhaust will give you two nice noticable gains and you won't spend *too much money depending on what type of setup you run.

If you want to further modify your car then after an intake and exhaust, go with a limited slip differential and an aluminum driveshaft. That will open up some extra "umph" but it'll cost you a few $$$

Don't forget suspension. Get an SLP limited slip differential while you still can.
Rear Trailing Arms. (To suit your likes.)
Maybe some poly bushings?
It depends on if you want to go straight or make turns! :D
