  • Can anyone PLEASE help!??

Someone please help me! i got screwed on this 95 camaro 3.4/5speed $6000. and the stupid pos hasn't ran right the first week i had it in august. i've spent almost a grand trying to fix it, and nothing. under hard acceleration, the car bogs down and just doesn't go anywhere, rpm's don't climb nothing. flooring it in 3rd at like 60, just does nothing but produce black smoke. the plugs are burning hot, but are covered in carbon all around the edge. and i get like 17mpg/hwy i've replaced mass airflow sensor, throttle pos. sensor, coil packs, spark plugs, fuel filter, O2 sensor's, coolant sensor, 3 motor vacs, catalytic conveter(which was plugged, but didn't help)EGR valve was supposedly checked one of the many times it's been in the shop. can anyone please help me!!!???

Have you changed brands of spark plugs? Do you use those platinum "split" type plugs?

I recommend a failsafe brand such as NGK.

Oh man... I just read the "black smoke" part.

Your head gasket(s) might be leaking some oil :(

fuel filter and plug wires been changed yet? maybe try some injector cleaner and be easy on the car for about a 100 miles. But look at it this way, all this money you are spending SHOULD make it pretty reliable when you figure out the problem.

Aren't you guys overlooking the obvious? If it blows black smoke, and loses power, it might just be running very rich.
            Oil creats blue smoke.

Good call! Loss of power, black smoke = burning rich. Have you read any codes on it? Even if the SES isn't lite, try reading the codes. Sometimes the light burns out or heaven forbid, its removed. After that, test your IAC. After that, not sure, too many places to look. But just remember that you are either getting way too much gas (possibly check resistance values on your injectors) or your ignition is very weak. Also, did you check your fuel pressure? Does it have a cold start injector setup?

thanks for the help, i'm pretty sure the SES light is working, it comes on when i start it. I've basicly been figuring it's running rich, but can't figure out why. not sure about the injector thing, and fuel pressure, i'll be checking soon. thanks

oh and i all ready replaced the IAC. no help. :(

Get a multimeter and check the phmage on the coil packs. you hvae to take them out to do this. Do you have a haynes or chiltons's manual? it sill tell what specs it shoudl be in.

also did you change the plug wires as well?

the o2s are hooked up properly and are new right?

Also has your fuel pressure and fuel pump been checked?

One thing you might want to look into is if the person you bought it from reprogramed the PCM. maybe he had a supercharger and removed it when he sold it but left the computer as is. See if your local dealer can put a fresh new program in for you. I'm sure it will cost you but its worth a shot. Also the injectors could be to big. Might want to check that too. Good luck ;)

yeah it sounds like the computer needs to be scanned and checked..

I'm betting on either injectors or computer.. definitely needs to be scanned.. if the programming is off it might be best just to look into a remanufactured PCM and be done with it..
