When I first bought the car it had a water leak. After trackign it down it was the elbow that is underneath the plenum. I have replaced that and also replaced the water pump and water transfer unit. Still I will be sitting there in traffic and it will shoot to 225 degrees. I put a 180 in it. Any ideas?
1) Check engine coolant level in both the radiator (by removing the cap) and the reservoir. Top off as required and re-install the rad cap. Make sure the rad cap is installed properly (directions are on the cap)
Start engine and when the engine is at operating temp do the following:
1) Open the cooling system bleeder screw and look for a steady stream of coolant from the bleeder. If steam and air comes out, keep the screw open until you have an uniterupted stream of coolant. Then close the valve.
2) Check the coolant level in the reservoir. Make sure it is at the proper level.
Top off as required.
3) Make sure your cooling fans are operating.

That has been quite a while ago. I have changed the oil since then and also filled it back up. I even had it flushed afterwards. Its really weird. It will work sometimes and lately its getting hotter more often. Also I remember my oil pressure at a steady pace when I first bought it but now its starting to get lower and lower. It sometime drops down to the first notch after the red line. Not all the way down but i guess I would say 1/4 of the way.
Hey Im trying here. ;) I am reading the forums and there is a lot of good stuff listed here. I have tried that seafoam in the past and OMFG.. The lady who had my car before me ran cheap gass.
Your cooling system could be clogged. I had a 95 Lumina that kept overheating like that, and then the next thing you know, I have coolant in my oil. It may need a professional flush done on your cooling system. I don't know about the oil pressure thing though, unless your heads have already warped from the heat (heaven forbid), but I don't remember if that causes problems with oil pressure.
Check that other thread: "Is this a blown head gasket!!??"
I'm trying to get a sight on what your saying here. So you have a temp problem and an oil problem.
How frequenly does your engine run too hot, and does your oil pressure problem occurr at that time, or is that an independent thing?

Well.. Now I think I have a water leak somewhere. I checked the engine yesterday and the water level was freaking low. Last time I checked it was a week ago and it was fine. But I don't smell coolent. I wonder if its leaking where the block burns it off.
I guess I really had a question on the oil pressure. It says on that website that it should be at 60 psi. Well it hovers around 50 to 55 and somes drops down til 45 or so and then comes right back up. Depending on the RPM's. I don't think it should be that low. or am I wrong?
