unless you throw the car in neutral, you're not idling while rolling. Um...it's normal operation. I'm sorry if I come off anal but that just sounds like common sense. Think of a manual transmission, you don't always push the clutch in all the way EVERY TIME you let off the gas. The torque converter doesn't do it EVERY TIME either.

Well, what if he is pushing in the clutch?
Mine (manual) does it sort of like it's anticipating a shift. eg.. If I'm cruising in 3rd @ 2500 rpm and I push the clutch to go to fourth, it'll drop to about 1800 (right at where it needs to be at the same speed in 4th). OTOH, if I'm running it hard at the time, and I clutch at the same point, it'll rev to a little over 3000 (where it would be at the same speed in 2nd). This is all w/o any throttle input from me, just clutch in. If I don't put it in gear and let the clutch back out or if I keep it in neutral, it'll settle down to the usual idle after a second or two.
Makes me seem like a smoother driver than I am. I thought this was normal.1997 M5
Borla muffler, SLP CAI, 1le swaybars, B&M Ripper shifter, 3.42s, rear disks, 1 piece DS
Pics of my car

Mine does that to, but I think it's normal. Think about it, you have this heavy disk spinning at say 3k RPM's when you shift, It's inertia is going to want to keep it spinning, and it's going to take a lot to slow it down. I could be way off on this though. It makes sense though.2003 Zinc Yellow Mustang GT 1 of 701
ET : TBD
But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun! ok guys i was wondering why ya didnt understand lol, yea i press in the clutch when i coast and sometimes this is for like half a mile depending on how fast and how steep the hill is, and unless im going below 10 mph it wont idle down like it Used to, i dunno if its because i need to clean my engine or if its because my car is just being weird or something, but to me it just seemed strange that while in idle just coasting above 10 mph it would idle high91 Eagle Talon Awd Turbo 5 speed FOR SALE 6000$
Looking for a Fiero GT
www.swdsm.net
