I was just wondering...I hate how the rev limiter on my 97 RS only lets me rev the engine to 4000 RPMs, I just got my new exhaust on and i cant stand not being able to rev it up higher to let people hear it. How hard is it to take the rev limiter off? And how do you do it?

yea I have a 96 Camaro and when in park I can only rev it 4000 RPM and then the car kind of shakes and makes a back-rap sound. The first time I did it I thought it was bad for the car or something cause it sounded nasty.1996 Polo Green Metallic Camaro:
SLP CAI, Carsound/Magnaflow 3\" in/out cat, Flowmaster 2.5\" cat-back... sounds great

Why would you want to rev that high in neutral anyways? Sounds awful.

I thought that in park you can't rev it past 4k and in neutral you could get it a little higher but over 50mph. There was an old topic, not sure if would still be on here, where I got in a debate about this, and we figured that over 50mph or something you could rev completely up. But like 98camaro said, I wouldn't want to rev completely up to show people how horrible it sounds, lol. Theres also a reason why GM set the rev limiter too. It might not be too good for the engine to rev up that high? Who knows

I only reved to 4000 in park once. I was just curious so I did a quick rev. I usually keep my RPM's down though while in park or neutral. Don't care too much for reving, just like cruising1996 Polo Green Metallic Camaro:
SLP CAI, Carsound/Magnaflow 3\" in/out cat, Flowmaster 2.5\" cat-back... sounds great
