  • Weatherstripping/Rubber Seal Conditioner?

I heard there was a product(maybe sold by GM?) that you apply/rub on weatherstripping and all other related rubber seals and that it brings back "life" in them and makes them soft and thicker. Obviously there is a point beyond saving any rubber seals that are horribly cracked but I would like to keep all my weatherstripping and t-tops in their normal condition to maybe even better? Has anyone heard of this product and if so where can I buy it, thanks in advance.

GM does sell it but i do not know how much or where else. Like you said, it really isnt meant to restore bad stripping. just maintain good weather stripping to last longer

I've always liked using a silicone spray lubricant. Doesn't fog the windows like the vinyl protectants but still makes them look nicer and I have the stuff on hand for other uses as well. Doesn't make them thicker, but it does reduce the friction to keep them from wearing as bad and makes them look darker.

i use petrolium jelly (SP) on my t-top seals... it works well and is non-corrosive and cheap..

also it is usually hanging around the house somewhere

GM service manual recommends dielectric silicone grease. I bought some at the dealer for about $8 in a small bottle. The instructions in the manual are to rub it on with your fingers on all the rubber, let it sit for 30 minutes, then wipe off the residue. The weatherstripping is like new when you're done.
