  • Just head gasket?

    so i posted some of this in drag racing too..

    so i was out today running the 150 shot..giving it a bit more fuel..the first run went ok..got a 13.5@100 ..then the second run..i didnt feel anything..but i saw the engine light come on..after that the car was smoking a bit and riding really rough..i got a code 306 for a cylider 6 misfire..and it was a white smoke coming from the tail pipes..basically telling me i blew the head gasket..

    the driver's side of the engine looks fine..and i cant see any mixing of fluids yet..but i can see where the passenger's side valve cover is wet with oil along the outside half of it..and it makes a white smoke from there when i let on the gas and also gives a white smoke out the tail pipes..

    although i have a cylinder 6 misfire..is it possible it is just a blown passenger side head gasket?..and if so..what are some estimates on repair?..thanks!

    The 2 head gaskets are totally seperate, so that's not all that unlikely. Sounding like it blew around #6, so you're getting water in there causing the missfire.

    If you pay to have the repairs done, it's not gonna be cheap. Will probably cost around $1000, depending on the deal you get.

      cool..i took out plug number 6..the end was covered in a little oil..and the electrode showed some evidence of high heat..but other than that it was fully intact..anyone else had one or both done recently?..if so what did you pay?

          yeah i read a little about it in the haynes manual..pulling the heads and stuff..i think its a little beyond what i could do and would feel more comfortable having a pro do it [img]smile.gif[/img]

              maybe if you try to do something yourself, and this is a good oportunity, u'll stop breaking things, and you car might run right.
