fuil pump making odd noise??wth??

ok, i was at a stop sign and i herd my fuil pump make a wha wha wha wha noise! im like omg, my fuil pump is going out, well i get home its not doing it, anybody know whats going on with it? oh, and i would check it and it would go on, but still make a odd noise
