  • Could a bad cat give you bad gas mileage?

I was looking at this listing and got to thinking.

    http://www.fbodycentral.com/forum/sh...threadid=11854

He says he gets 260 miles to the tank. that’s like 17 mpg. I know V8's are not economical but that just doesn’t seem right. I thought I read a sticker an a new T/A that said 20/26 mpg. Since I was thinking about getting a second car I wanted to know. Thanks.

Man...I dont get much more than that to a tank. I average 19mpg with most all of it being city driving...a bit of freeway to and from school 3 days a week (like 10miles both way).

Yea but 2-3 mpg will have a big effect on my budget.

LoL sorry I couldn't resist but if you don't have a job and the extra 2-3mpg means that much, why are you going to buy another car??? LOL

I got 19 out of my tank today.
I'd like to find out why it is that bad, I'm pretty reserved driver when it comes to hard acceleration (except for once in a while....)

My dad pays for my gas most of the time but the price if gas is suppose to go thought the roof this summer. I just don't want to get a car with a gas problem that can't be fixed.

And as for my first question, Will a bad cat give you bad gas mileage?

If the cat is clogged for example, yes, for sure.

YEs it can, but remember t/a formulas z28's all have v8's less strain on motor to move their cars. We have v6's.. More strain.
