  • Fuel Pump Replacement

So i just got back from takin my car to the mechanic to have the fuel pressure regulator replaced...wasnt fun about 250 for him to replace that, the fuel filter and run the diags...But now i was also informed that the Fuel Pump is starting to go...i read online at http://www.worldisround.com/articles/12533/index.html about replacing the fuel pump by cuttin into the body...but i was wondering if anyone has done it and how effective is it once you cut away the portion of the body...Thanks

    Re: Fuel Pump Replacement

I did it with mine and it works perfectly. I now can change my fuel pump in 20 minutes compared to if I had to drop the rear end and all to do it all over again.

A lot of people use the access panel method to swap fuel pumps. Do some searches here in gen tech, advanced tech, and FI/nitrous sections for quite a few threads on it.

How much differant are the measurments for a V6 fuel tank tho?? and once you get that part cut out how do u take the fuel pump out.. like how do u disconnect from the fuel lines?

same measurements. there are some quick disconnect fuel lines that you pop off then remove the screws holding the cover on and pull assembly out

sounds like a good deal...but i read the tanks were differant...i guess just feel around after the first cut...now i gotta look into gettin a fuel pump....i kno thats gonna be like around 300 but if i can install it myself the pump practically installs itself then

            Re: Fuel Pump Replacement

an aftermarket high flow one from zzperformance.com is 125 bucks. Will work just like the stocker and if you ever mod your car you will have the bigger pump to support your fueling needs. ;)

basically just rip out the old one and hook up the new one and then put it back into the tank...im liking it

just make sure to get the universal kit instead of the 3800 specific one because that one is for the gtp's
