  • Queston for BLLDOGG

Just bought a new gmc Z71 with the dual zone manual climate control. Under the fan speed switch are two buttons, one has a pic of a truck with an arrow inside it which is the recirculate button, and the other button has a snow flake on it which is the compresser a/c button. Heres my question, when i have the compresser-snowflake button off, the light is out. And i turn on the recirculate button my compresser comes on also. Does every ones truck do that? or is mine messed up? Because in my mind the recirculate button should beable to be on, with out the ac compresser on, the ac button with the snow flake should control the compresser.

I think its normal. is it really new or just new to you?

will it not let you just turn the ac control off and keep the recirculation on or does it turn recirculation at the same time?

I have noticed this similar situation before and it is kind of annoying IMO. Have you read your owners manual to see what it might have to say?

Yes, its brand new 2006. Yes, I can trun on just the a/c, or just the recirculate. When i turn on just the a/c its like normal a/c. When i turn on the recirculate, or both recirculate and a/c it does the same thing, it used to be called, MAX A/C. I would just like to recirculate the air in the cab with out the compresser being on. I just walked down the street to a guys house i dont know because i know he drives a newer silverado, turns out his is a 04, and i told him my problem. We went to his truck and tested the recirculate button and sure enough the compresser did come on, so i guess your right it is working properly. Looks like now i have to rig up a manual compresser kill switch.
