I heard you can run the engine without the valve covers... no problems.
Nobody seems to know the right answer.
So thats what I wanna know! danmit!
I've been running topless for about 100 miles now and I dont see any problems...
My shop saw that I didnt have all the bolts in the valve covers so they didnt want to start it. wtf
    lol
    thanks

    Re: valve covers off

Whew, you can run with out valve covers, but i sure wouldnt.

it allows for way more dirt and water to find its way into your oil system.

    comon Jon!!!!!! lol

      Re: valve covers off

Its bad becuase you will leak oil all over the place. The oil is is fed to the valve springs and rockers thru the push rods and then recycled back through the motor. Without the valve covers the oil wont get recyled back through the rest of the motor. They keep dirt and crap out of the valve train as well.
