  • few questions about power..

okay guys i went to the track today and i was very upset with my time granted it was my first time out my best was 15.4 almost 15.3 i know the car has more in it than that (car has 300lbs of stereo **** in the trunk) just ask anyone that was at the meet plus almost a full tank of gas betwen 3/4 and full

my question is should i get a 160 thermo? would it help more? i am getting a real tune this week and getting ridof the jet chip. that will help me some and also would i benifittaking the egr off completely? thats the big 2 questions i had the 160 thermo should i go with that and should i delete the egr.. thanks guys

with out all that weight in the back i think you could have hit 15.1. what was your mph?

deleting the egr wont do much other than stop circulating the hot air back into the motor so it might run a bit cooler than it did before but not really that noticeable. i think the 180 is fine, but since youre getting a tune its up to you weather or not you want to change it out and have it tuned for the 160. from what ive read people got better results from the 180, but i dont know how much proof of that there is.

look into gettinng a manual fan switch or make it yourself check the bolt on sticky up top for the do it yourselfer(better imo since its way cheaper) that way you can keep the motor cooler when you want(like at the track)

somethings to consider is some gears. 3.73s should help you out also.

pretty sure he has lsd. his 60's were pretty good even though the track didnt hook worth a damn. i wasnt impressed with the track prep honestly. its usually alot better than what it was. hence my sweet 330foot burn out/fish tail normally i pull 2.0 60s and some 1.9s here and there and i wasnt even close. it got better as the day went on but it was still pretty slick imo.

we have factory 342 gears will 373s help that much? and no lsd i think if i wouldn't have stalled the car to 2000/2400 i could have gotten better times.. i should have stalled 1500 or so

ok before any more mods. lsd. thats final. lsd would have helped ALOT on the launch. stock stall is 1800 irrc, stalling is a thing you have to go out and mess with. you have to find what your car likes best.

3.73s... i think the 3.73s would help out.

              Tune!

                  Re: few questions about power..

Torque management is something that tells the car how much power it will allow it to make. By removing it it will let the car make more power especially with future mods. I had phill turn mine off and it had no adverse effects. So when we go Tuesday to tune your car he will explain rurther more about the tune and what all we can do to help your car. I will have my GM 3.73s up for sale soon as Im going with 4.10's. So if you want them well talk about it. Also if your car is the angled TB then I agree with puting the screen back in. Also Ive never heard of the spark plugs uve put in the car. I personally wont use anythgin else but NGK. Give me a call tonight or tomorrow and well talk more.

its a straight TB the only reason we removed it was because it was damaged pretty bad

I know u toldd me. Well since the car has been running fine without it and it is a straight TB then there is no reason to put one back in. You should be fine.
