I refilled my system with freon after changing out the comressor. now the car is idle surging. this is due to the a/c compressor kicking on and of every couple seconds. it kicks on for about a second, the rpms drop to and 500 rpms and then it kicks off and the rpms rev to about 1600 when at idle. what is wrong with it? any help is appreciated. thanks.

Re: a/c help. please.
Some thing else is not right, the cars rpm should be steady no matter what load is on the engine when idleing. Did you pull a vacuum before putting the freon in. If not i hope the garage took out the freon you put in, evacuated the system, then recharged with clean freon. You can not have air in the lines, it can do some screwy stuff.http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2245261 Green 1997, 105k, all stock except for Z28 front springs, Air shocks in the rear, home made coolant recovery tank, home made battery hold down.

Re: a/c help. please.
well, i did all the work myself. the reason the engine was surgin was b/c the compressor was kicking on and off. a buddy of mine who does this sorta stuff helped me out. he said when the freon got low in his dd, the comressor would shut on and off. i talked to a gm tech about this and he basically said i did everything worng installing it. since i didnt measure the oil and stuff like that. i do not know how to get the air out of the lines, but i drove about 150 miles today and the a/c never even blinked. it almost froze me out of the car.
also, my car has lots of miles. i have a parts car, and it will get fixed one way or another. but hopefully this fix works out. i didnt drain the air out of the lines but my stepdads deisel mechanic said it shoudnt cause too much worry. only time will tell. thanks for your help/concern. i appriciate it.
