    someone told me that after 100,000 miles I should change from 10w 30 motor oil to 10w 40, is this true?

    it is probably unnecessary. modern engines tend to have less wear even at high mileage. unless you are sure you are having problems there is no reason to change. in general thicker oils are poor choices since they dont tend to flow through the engine as well.
