1. How do you know if a differential bearing is bad?
I ordered one off ebay and want to know if the
bearings are good. Apparently, if I buy 2 bearings from autozone for 10.99 each, it'll cost me $250 to have them pressed on .

2. Do you need to add grease or anything to the bearings?

3. Is a dial indicator really needed to do an lsd swap? I have 3.08 gears and the lsd is 3.08.

4.This lsd manual says to use hypoid non synthetic gear oil (80w-90) and additive. Does anyone do this??

#1- don't know, but for the cost of new bearings I wouldn't take a chance on old ones. I think it would be more like $250 for someone to prep and install everything [and even that seems a little high].
#2- dunno; I doubt it. Isn't it immersed in the gear oil?
#3- dunno; I'm paying someone else to do this
#4- I've seen this recommendation on an Eaton posi also. If it's from the manufacturer's mouth, I would do what they say. The additive is probably the GM stuff you get from the dealer.
