  • Could I get some estimates

I know you can't get an exact HP rating on your car since there are so many variables, but could you guys atleast give me an estimate? I've got a 97 3.8 Camaro m5. Mods are: Magnaflow Cat-Back, Moroso CAI, IAT resistor (gonna dyno before and after for it to see if I really gain anything. No loss seen from it though), and Aluminum DS. The car has 76K on it. It will be getting new fluids soon. What should I expect from the dyno (dynoing the 8th of November)? What do you think I would run in the 1/4 (with an OK driver....Say 2.0 60's)?

with those mods, probably around 170 RWHP. Nothing huge. As for a 1/4 mile time, with some weight reduction you could be in the low 15's. Key word "COULD." It's all in the driver. Get a good launch, and you should be OK. Practice makes perfect.

EDIT: what rear gears do you have?

 .........It comes 160 stock, I'd hope these mods are an improvement! And you guys are saying low 15's. Some people with just an intake have ran like 15.2 or something. I don't remember where I saw it, but I found a few like that while searching. As far as weight reduction, only thing I've done is taken out the spare and jack. Anything else I can do that's temporary, or won't keep it from being my DD (I need the back seats)? I've got stock gears, and an open diffy, that's my next mod (going 3.42's since I drive highway daily).

Chevymax, the come with 200fwhp (fly wheel HP), so once it gets to the rear wheels (RWHP), you've lost some in the process.

EDIT: Did some searching, and found one of those posts I was referring to: Here's the Link. The dude ran 15.18 with just a Flowmaster w/ no cat, and a K&N.

there are some factory freaks out there. others aren't as fortunate. 170 is what you will dyno and you will run around a 15.4-15.6 with that open diff

OK. Maybe, just maybe, I have one of the factory freaks:banana: I killed a new V6 Charger that had exhaust and intake (250fwhp stock), with me having the same mods. When I say killed.....I mean I beat him by a good 6 or 7 links.

I sure hope you smoked it, they run 16s in the 1/4 stock....so I wouldn't call yours a factory freak quite yet. lol.

Just go to the dyno please and stop trying to guestimate....all cars are different and react different to mods nobody can tell you what you are going to run.

OK. I realize everyone's car takes differently too different mods. I just wanted a nice range of what I should be getting. Like I said, I'm hoping tog et to the dyno sometime soon, and then the track in about 2 months at the latest.
