You still did it the long way....all you gotta do is lift up the top dash cover. Its only held on with velcro like fastners and you can get at the sensor without even taking the thing out.

Look at my link. I disabled the automatic headlights. My running lights are still funtional.

For some reason though, my headlight warning bell doesn't work anymore. If I leave the lights on and turn off the engine, it won't tell me like it used to.

I wouldn't listen to anything that 1dangerousv6 has said in this thread... he has proven himself QUITE the dumbass in other threads.

Search on LS1tech.com and youll find a ton of GOOD info. :D

Please....just lift up the dash board piece....its the huge piece of plastic on the top of the dash board...just lift it a few inches and you can see the automatic lights sensor....all you need to do is tap into the two wires coming from it and have a switch that connects the two when you want to disable the automatic headlights.

I just took off the trim piece around the vents/stereo head unit, and looked for a small box with two plugs in it. Unplug the one closest to the driver.

Start the car, get out, and make sure your turn signals are functional... if they aren't, you unplugged the wrong connector. Reconnect it and unplug the other one.

Once you've done that, you can now manually turn your lights on and off using the switch on the driver's side of the dash.
