Re: PCV whats it do and can it cause this?
Removing the PCV valve will not affect AFRs (Air Fuel Ratio), unless you fail to block off the hose that was attached to the valve that you removed. Then you would end up with what is essentially a vacuum leak and you would have an excessively high idle. At Wide Open Throttle you could end up with a little leaner AFR cause the disconnected and open hose would allow air to be drawn into the engine without going past the MAF sensor.
There should be no affect if you completely block off the PCV hose because it is in the range of control of the IAC (or electronic throttle body on 99+) to control the idle at the right speed without the calibrated vacuum leak that an installed PCV valve provides. Also no change in AFR at WOT cause all the air drawn into the engine must pass the MAF.
So I guess bottom line is that the guy who thinks your car is running rich because of the missing PCV is full of _ _ it!
If your car is running rich, my opinion is that you need to look elsewhere. Now Playing: \'99 Pewter Firebird, stock, bone stock, and nothing but stock, so help me God!
Comming attractions: K&N Filter, Lid Mod, Intake Bellows Smooth Pipe Mod.
I dream about: Forced Induction (TC or SC) or NOX (or both!)
