• Final 150mph cluster swap

I know there are a lot of topics about this but none of them actually has a for sure answer on what will work and what won't. From what I've gathered by using the search function, the cluster has to be the same year as your car, the speedo and all other gauges will work except the tach, and of course the odometer. What I want to know is, is all this information 100% correct? And is there any way to switch odometer units or roll back or foward the other odometer to match your mileage? I've also heard that you can switch the tach resistor to the one in the V6 cluster to make the tach work, has anyone sucessfully done this? Thanks for all the information and hopefully this will help a lot of people out! :D

Just change out the odometer, it just bolts and plugs in......... You are not altering the mileage and it is actual so it should not matter. F-Bodies are very easy to change out.....

Hey there redcamaro... I have mentioned this on a different post also, I believe. I have done this swap. I have a 95 3.4L and swaped with a 94 or 96, I remember it being one year off, Z28 cluster. The tach on the Z28 is 25% off, that is the only thing that is different. It was explained to me that it is only getting signals from 6 cylinders, so it is missing 2 from the Z. Which accounts for the 25%. I have read from others that have had no problems at all with the different cluster... I guess the later years of fbodies get the signal from different places, so it doesn't effect their cluster. I don't mind it, I have an automatic. If you have any other questions, just shoot me an e-mail or post back, I will be happy to help in any way posible. Good luck with your swap.

        Rob

BTW, sweet looking car. Did you do those ground effects yourself? I love the way those look.

          Again.........

The tach will work perfectly IF AND ONLY IF you have a digital odometer. It reads off the PCM. If you have an older style ( I want to say pre 97 but i'm not sure ) the tach won't work right.

Everything worked perfectly fine on my 95 3.4L when I swapped them. And, my tach and MPH were dead on. Tested and retested

I put in a 150mph gauge overlay. What I'm thinking about doing is getting the gauges out of a Z28 and actually pulling the speedometer gauge out of the pod and swapping it in for my speedo. Will this work?

Most likely not basaed ont eh circuitry of the board behind it. Just use the entire gauge cluster.
