  • Is there a Ghost driving my Camaro?

Sometimes i will be driving down the road, and let off the pedal for a bit. Then, the gas pedal is being pushed back in and the car is accelerating and i am not doing it, its doing it by itself! If this is normal then i am the king of spain. Have any of you heard of this on the 3rd Gen F Body Camaros? Its a 1991 Camaro 3.1 V6.

sounds like maybe a problem with a vaccum leak, or something of that sort? i have a similar problem. id only when the engine is still relatively cold?

i agree, it sould like a curse control problem. Hint Hint, cruse control does not work, its messed up.

Sounds like your cruise is engaged and is trying to maintain speed. I bet when you touch the brake pedal it releases the gas pedal.

I would also bet that the wires for the cruise control switches in the control stalk are cracked/broken and that they are shorting to each other, commanding the cruise to set. The cracked/broken wires in the control stalk is a very common problem with GM vehicles with that type control stalk. I figured out a way to repair the wires in those control stalks, and have fixed a number of them over the years.

No, this is pushing the pedal in itself. And I figured it out, it was the cruise control. I have had the camaro for 4 years, and the cruise has never worked. But recently I had a guy doing a tune up, and I bet he reconnected the loose wire for the cruise.

                        Cruise control is pretty sweet!
Now for the real test......racing someone and only using the cruise control to accelerate. I bet i can find a ricer around here somewhere........
                        lol

I know on my parent's 3.4 Impala, if you cancel cruise, then press the resume button. the car accelerates on it's own... kind of scary?
